ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia’s military leadership have reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthening existing defence and security cooperation between the two brotherly countries.
Pakistan’s Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC), General Sahir Shamshad Mirza, is currently on an official visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) for the 8th round of the Pakistan-KSA Joint Military Cooperation Committee (JMCC) meeting.
During his visit, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza met Saudi Arabia’s Assistant Minister of Defence, Major General Talal Bin Abdullah Al-Otaibi, and Chief of General Staff, General Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, Pakistan’s military media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) stated in a press release on Saturday.
During the meetings, discussions focused on strategic and security issues, the evolving regional environment, and bilateral defence cooperation, ISPR stated.
The JMCC meeting was co-chaired by General Sahid Shamshad Mirza and General Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili, where both sides reviewed the ongoing cooperation between the armed forces of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The discussions focussed on mutual exchange programmes, training initiatives, and other defence-related activities.
The military leadership of both countries reaffirmed their commitment to further enhancing defence and security cooperation.
The Saudi military leadership commended the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
Earlier, upon his arrival at the Armed Forces Headquarters, General Sahir Shamshad Mirza was presented with a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out military contingent.
