ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to further strengthen the multifaceted partnership across all domains and to continue deepening the bonds of brotherhood and friendship between the two countries.

The resolve came during a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan in Riyadh, a Foreign Office statement said on Tuesday.

“The two leaders discussed bilateral relations, regional and international developments, including the situation in Gaza, and reaffirmed their shared commitment to cooperation at multilateral fora, including the United Nations,” it said.

During the meeting, both sides agreed to further deepen the Pak-Saudi multifaceted partnership across all domains, and to continue strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and friendship between the two countries.

Ishaq Dar also congratulated Prince Faisal bin Farhan and the leadership of the Kingdom on the successful hosting of the Future Investment Initiative Forum and for their warm hospitality.

Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have historically maintained close ties, which have expanded in recent years to include enhanced strategic and economic cooperation.

During the Prime Minister’s visit to Riyadh on September 18, the two countries signed a landmark defence pact and, last year, agreed on 34 memorandums of understanding worth $2.8 billion across various sectors.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister received a telephone call from Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.

The two leaders discussed the evolving situation in Gaza and the next steps and modalities for achieving lasting peace in Palestine.

“Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan invited the DPM/FM to Turkiye for the forthcoming meeting next week of the eight Foreign Ministers of partner countries who were engaged on the sidelines of UNGA80 in the diplomatic process on Gaza,” according to a Foreign Office statement.
