Pakistan, Saudi Arabia Explore Ways to Strengthen Football Partnership

ISLAMABAD: The President of the Pakistan Football Federation, Syed Mohsin Gilani, held talks with Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Maliki, on Friday to boost football collaboration.

They explored ways to deepen bilateral cooperation in football. Their talks focused on launching joint initiatives, creating exchange programs, and building institutional partnerships to benefit the sport in both nations.

During the meeting, PFF President Gilani thanked the Saudi government for its ongoing support of sports in Pakistan.

He noted that Saudi Arabia has consistently been a true friend to Pakistan and that its assistance in the sports sector is greatly appreciated.

Gilani spoke about the potential for football in Pakistan, pointing to the country’s deep pool of talent.

He outlined the PFF’s focus on building strong grassroots programmes, raising coaching standards, upgrading facilities, and giving young players opportunities to gain international experience.

He explained that the federation is putting into action a detailed plan to promote football at every level, from the grassroots up to the professional ranks.

Gilani also highlighted the importance of Saudi support, stating that increased cooperation, training opportunities, and friendly matches between the two countries would give fresh energy to football in Pakistan. He expressed the goal of seeing Pakistan earn a respected place in the global football community.

Ambassador Al-Maliki, in turn, assured the PFF of Saudi Arabia’s full backing for football development in Pakistan.

He stressed that sports are a key way to strengthen the brotherly relationship between the two nations. He expressed confidence that closer collaboration would help the sport grow and thrive.

The meeting took place in a positive and friendly environment, with both sides confirming their dedication to expanding sports cooperation in the years ahead.
