ISLAMABAD: Dr Ali Awadh Asseri, former ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan and Rasanah Board Member, said on Friday that Pak-Saudi ties are unique, progressive and durable.
Addressing a seminar at Islamabad Policy Research Institute, he said that Pakistani people are dear and near to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the relationship spans political, cultural, economic, and strategic affairs.
He highlighted the strides that both brotherly countries have made in geopolitical coordination, and mentioned their special understanding at regional and international levels.
Pak-Saudi economic ties
Dr. Ali Asseri talked in detail about the economic relations, saying that the Kingdom had been forthcoming in helping Pakistan in bailing it out whenever it was in dire problems. Saudi Arabia helped Pakistan through loan facilities and providing oil in deferred payment facilities.
The former ambassador spoke about how Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman’s Vision 2030 is changing Saudi Arabia and the region as whole, and what positive impact it had on the social sector in Saudi Arabia, leading it towards an open society.
He said that Pakistan could play a greater role in regional security.
Discussing the problems faced by the Muslim world, Asseri said that Kashmir and Palestine, as well as Islamophobia, are big issues that Pak-Saudi ties.
