ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed their commitment to expand bilateral cooperation in technology, artificial intelligence (AI), and digital infrastructure.
The consensus was reached during a meeting between Pakistan’s Minister for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and the Saudi Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Abdullah Al-Swaha, according to a press release.
The two sides discussed the Pakistan Digital Corridor to China & Central Asia to strengthen global connectivity. The Saudi Minister conveyed best wishes for Pakistan’s continued success under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
Both sides stressed cooperation in AI and computing technologies, reaffirming their commitment to strategic tech partnerships. Minister Shaza Fatima announced that Pakistan has approved a PKR 4.8 billion project to train over 7,000 Pakistani youth in semiconductor technologies.
She also reiterated Pakistan’s support for Saudi Arabia’s National Semiconductor Hub (NSH), expressing confidence in the Kingdom’s leadership in the tech domain.
The talks also included collaboration under Saudi Arabia’s National Technology Development Programme (NTDP), and ways to foster partnerships between Pakistani and Saudi companies.
The Minister highlighted Pakistan’s recent cybersecurity successes and the strong role played by its armed forces in recent geopolitical developments. She reaffirmed that Pakistan remains a committed partner in Saudi Arabia’s growth and success.
