Pakistan, Rwanda to Strengthen Bilateral Relations

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Rwanda have reiterated the desire to strengthen political, economic, and trade relations for the mutual benefit of the two countries. Both sides have also underscored the need to increase economic and commercial cooperation.

Rwanda’s Senate President Dr Kalinda Francois-Xavier, along with his delegation, called on Pakistan’s President, Dr Arif Alvi, at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Wednesday. 

Talking to the delegation, President Arif Alvi said that Pakistan wanted to further cement its friendly ties with Rwanda and expressed satisfaction over the fact that both countries were cooperating with each other at regional and international fora. President Alvi underscored Pakistan’s significant regard for its relations with Rwanda and the determination to maximize bilateral trade to its full potential.

The President informed the delegation that Pakistan is organizing the 4th Pak-Africa Trade Development Conference and Single Country Exhibition in Cairo in January 2024. He expressed hope that Rwandan businessmen would participate in the event to explore new business opportunities between the two friendly nations. 

During the meeting, the President highlighted the Israeli atrocities against innocent Palestinians and called for an immediate ceasefire to prevent further destruction and bloodshed in Gaza.

The delegation expressed gratitude to the President for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to them during their stay in Pakistan.

Rwanda’s Senate President, Dr. Kalinda Francois-Xavier, emphasized the excellent relations between both countries and the need to reinforce bilateral ties. He underscored Rwanda’s view of Pakistan as a significant partner and the intention to enhance bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest. 

He said that Rwanda is considering opening its embassy in Pakistan’s capital.
