ISLAMABAD: Qamar Zaman Kaira, Adviser to the Pakistan’s Prime Minister on Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan, said on Friday that Kashmir is the basic dispute between Pakistan and India.

Addressing a ceremony here in Islamabad, he expressed resolve to effectively highlight the Kashmir problem before the international community and apprise them about the illegal Indian tactics to sabotage the legitimate freedom struggle of the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

He said that only politically and economically strong Pakistan can project the Kashmir cause in a successful way on international stage.

Expressing disappointment over the delay in tabling the resolution in the National Assembly, Kaira stated that the resolution was originally intended to be presented before August 5. However, the delay ensued due to procedural responsibilities falling under the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs. Consequently, the resolution is now slated for submission on Monday, marking a significant move just three days following the observance of Youm-e-Istikhsal.

The Prime Minister’s Advisor underscored the steadfast determination of Pakistan’s armed forces, emphasizing their preparedness to respond resolutely to any potential aggression from India. Kaira asserted that Pakistan remains undaunted by India’s threats or attempts at intimidation. He highlighted the ongoing demonstrations and swift responses to Indian violations along the Line of Control.

Reflecting on the historical backdrop of the Kashmir issue, the leader acknowledged instances of perceived governmental inaction in addressing the matter. Nevertheless, he unwaveringly maintained that Pakistan’s commitment to resolving the Kashmir dispute remains resolute.

With a firm tone, he emphasized that India’s significant global economic presence does not warrant or justify territorial occupation on that basis alone.

Delving into the diplomatic realm, the leader lauded China’s steadfast support concerning the Kashmir issue. However, he iterated Pakistan’s unwavering determination to champion its cause independently, irrespective of international support.

As regional dynamics continue to evolve, Pakistan’s steadfast stance on the Kashmir issue remains central to its foreign policy objectives.
