ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Armed Forces decisively repelled an unprovoked cross-border assault launched by Afghan Taliban and India-sponsored militant groups on the night of October 11–12, 2025, along multiple sectors of the Pak-Afghan frontier, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Sunday.

According to the military’s media wing, the attackers—comprising Taliban forces and elements of Fitna al Khawarij, Fitna al Hindustan and ISKP/Daesh—attempted coordinated fire and physical raids aimed at destabilizing border regions and facilitating terrorism. “Exercising the right of self-defence, the alert Armed Forces of Pakistan repelled the assault decisively all along the border and inflicted heavy casualties,” ISPR said.

Precision strikes and ground raids targeted Taliban camps, posts, and terrorist training facilities operating from Afghan territory. The military said all measures were taken to avoid collateral damage and safeguard civilians. Multiple Taliban sites were destroyed, while 21 hostile positions across the border were briefly captured and several training camps rendered inoperative.

During the overnight skirmishes, 23 Pakistani soldiers embraced shahadat defending the nation’s territorial integrity, and 29 others sustained injuries. Intelligence assessments indicate that more than 200 Taliban and affiliated militants were neutralized, with “extensive infrastructural damage” inflicted on their networks.

ISPR stated that the Pakistan Armed Forces remain “ever ready to protect the life and property of the people” and that the resolve to defend the country’s sovereignty is “unwavering.” It noted with concern that the attack coincided with the Taliban foreign minister’s visit to India, “the biggest sponsor of terrorism in the region.”

“The people of Pakistan prefer constructive diplomacy and dialogue over violence and belligerence, but we will not tolerate the treacherous use of Afghan soil for terrorism,” the statement said, urging the Taliban government to take immediate and verifiable action against Fitna al Khawarij, Fitna al Hindustan, and ISKP/Daesh.

Pakistan warned that continued sponsorship of terrorist outfits by the Taliban government in collusion with India would be met with persistent counter-terror operations until “the menace of terrorism emanating from Afghanistan is completely eliminated.”
