KARACHI, Pakistan: Pakistan reopened its airspace on Saturday following a ceasefire agreement with India, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) spokesperson said.

“Pakistan’s airspace has been fully reopened for all types of flights,” the PAA spokesperson said in a statement after US President Donald Trump and both Pakistan and India announced the ceasefire.

“All airports in the country are available for normal flight operations,” the PAA spokesman said.

“Passengers are requested to contact the relevant airline for the latest schedule of their flights,” the PAA statement added.

Earlier, Trump said in a post on Truth Social that India and Pakistan have agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire.

Trump said that after a long night of talks mediated by the United States, he was pleased to announce that India and Pakistan had agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire.

He congratulated both countries on using “common sense and great intelligence”.

The US president also posted the same announcement on his X account.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in his Twitter post, commended “Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif on their wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace.”

He stated: “Over the past 48 hours, VP Vance and I have engaged with senior Indian and Pakistani officials, including Prime Ministers Narendra Modi and Shehbaz Sharif, External Affairs Minister Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, and National Security Advisors Ajit Doval and Asim Malik. I am pleased to announce that the Governments of India and Pakistan have agreed to an immediate ceasefire and to start talks on a broad set of issues at a neutral site. We commend Prime Ministers Modi and Sharif on their wisdom, prudence, and statesmanship in choosing the path of peace.”

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar on Saturday stated that Pakistan and India have agreed to a ceasefire with immediate effect.

Speaking to the media, Dar expressed gratitude to the countries that played a role in achieving the ceasefire, noting that diplomatic efforts were underway throughout the day, following which a ceasefire agreement was reached. He specifically acknowledged the role played by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio in the process.

The deputy prime minister said that Pakistan has always strived for peace in the region without compromising on its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
