ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Friday rejected as “frivolous” and “absolutely false” allegations by the Afghan Taliban regime that it violated a temporary pause along the western border, warning that any cross-border attack or terrorism would immediately end the truce.

In a statement posted on X, the ministry issued a fact-check refuting the claim, and clarified that no violation of the temporary pause — initiated by Pakistan in view of Eid ul-Fitr — has taken place along the border.

The statement said that the claims attributed to the spokesperson of the Taliban regime appear to be part of propaganda aimed at creating a false narrative.

It further suggested that such disinformation could be originating from elements within the Taliban regime itself, with the intent to create a pretext for potential actions or escalation, including terrorism or cross-border incidents.

Irrespective of the source of the claims, Pakistan reiterated that it had already made its position clear: any act of terrorism, cross-border attack, drone activity, or similar action by the Taliban regime or its proxies would result in the immediate termination of the temporary pause.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting emphasised that Pakistan remains committed to safeguarding its territorial integrity and will respond firmly to any hostile actions.

It maintained that the temporary pause was a unilateral gesture by Pakistan and should not be misrepresented, warning against attempts to distort facts through misinformation.
