ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Health authorities said on Tuesday that a total of 72 new coronavirus cases have been reported across the country over the past week.
According to data provided by the National Institute of Health (NIH), the ratio of positive cases stood at 0.85 percent, with two patients listed in critical condition.
A total of 8,458 COVID-19 tests were conducted across the country, of which 72 were tested positive for coronavirus, said health authorities, adding there were no reported fatalities due to the coronavirus during this period.
In the meantime, officials from the Ministry for National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination stated that the government has bolstered the capabilities of Border and Health Services in Pakistan to address any potential sub-variants of COVID-19.
They emphasized the presence of a surveillance system at all entry points into the country, including airports, where rapid testing and passenger screening are being implemented. It was also noted that 90 percent of the country’s population has already received the COVID-19 vaccine.
