ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan on Friday reaffirmed that Islamabad condemns terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

“Zero tolerance and international cooperation remain the cornerstone of Pakistan’s counterterrorism policy,” he said in an official statement.

Pakistan has consistently been a frontline state in the global fight against terrorism and has made substantial contributions to international peace—most recently through the arrest of Sharifullah, the mastermind behind the Abbey Gate bombing, the statement said.

The development follows the designation of The Resistance Front (TRF) by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, in response to an April 2025 attack in Pahalgam, located in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK), which killed 26 people.

Rubio claimed that TRF is an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Tayyiba (LeT), the group blamed for the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

The Foreign Office Spokesman said investigations into the Pahalgam incident, which happened in the internationally recognised disputed region of IIOJK, are still inconclusive.

“Any linkage with LeT, a defunct organisation banned in Pakistan, belies ground realities,” he said.

He said Pakistan has effectively and comprehensively dismantled such groups, arrested and prosecuted the leadership, and deradicalised its cadres.

The diplomat further added that while the issue under consideration pertains to the United States domestic laws, India has a track record of exploiting such designations to push anti-Pakistan propaganda with a view to divert international attention from its irresponsible and rogue behaviour, including ongoing human rights atrocities, especially in IIOJK.

The Spokesperson, in his statement, said as Pakistan continues to remain a counter-terrorism bulwark through unparalleled sacrifices and efficacy, “we urge the international community to adopt objective and non-discriminatory policies to address this global menace through collective efforts, which necessitate the listing of terrorist organisations like Majeed Brigade as alias of the Balochistan Liberation Army [BLA].”
