JEDDAH: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Ishaq Dar, has reaffirmed Islamabad’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and called for urgent collective action against Israeli atrocities.
Dar expressed these views during a meeting with Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Palestine, Dr. Mohammed Mustafa, on the sidelines of the Extraordinary Meeting of Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Jeddah, a foreign ministry statement said on Sunday.
“Deputy Prime Minister reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian cause and reiterated the stance for a viable and contiguous Palestinian state established on pre-1967 borders with Jerusalem as its capital,” it said.
Ishaq Dar in his speech while addressing the Extraordinary Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers called for urgent collective action to address ongoing Israeli atrocities against the Palestinian people.
He condemned the proposal of settlement of Palestinians in other countries and stressed to collectively oppose and block any attempt to relocate Palestinians from their homeland, whether through direct coercion or under the guise of humanitarian relief and reconstruction.
Trump triggered global outrage by suggesting the US “take over” Gaza and turn it into the “Riviera of the Middle East” while forcing its Palestinian inhabitants to relocate to Egypt or Jordan.
The Arab League at a summit in Cairo announced a trust fund to pay for Gaza’s reconstruction and urged the international community to back it.
Gaza’s health ministry reports that 48,453 Palestinians, mostly women and children, have been killed since the Israeli war began. The conflict has also displaced nearly Gaza’s entire population, according to UN agencies.
