ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to utilising all available resources to meet economic targets in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The Deputy Prime Minister expressed the resolve while chairing the 46th Steering Committee meeting of the Sustainable Development Goals Achievement Programme (SAP).
According to a press release issued by the office of the Deputy Prime Minister, the meeting focused on reviewing the utilisation of savings and available funds with executing agencies and streamlining implementation to ensure the timely completion of ongoing schemes.
The Deputy Prime Minister emphasised the importance of fully utilising the allocated resources before the close of the current financial year, underscoring the need to deliver results within the stipulated timelines.
He directed all stakeholders to expedite efforts to ensure the timely development of targets.
He noted the government’s resolve to align development efforts with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), for inclusive and meaningful progress that reflects the development priorities of the nation.

The meeting was attended by key stakeholders, including Federal Ministers for Interprovincial Coordination, Planning and Development, Power, Parliamentary Affairs, SAPM Tariq Bajwa; Federal Secretaries; Members of the National Assembly, and representatives of Provincial Governments.
Earlier, Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal had said that fiscal space will be provided in the next PSDP for the projects of strategic importance envisioned under Uraan Pakistan.

Giving a blueprint of the annual PSDP for the next fiscal year at the Annual Plan Coordination Committee meeting in Islamabad, he mentioned that these projects include Diamer Bhasha Dam, Sukkur Hyderabad motorway project, N-25 in Balochistan, and Karakoram highway phase two.
The Minister for Planning stressed the need for greater synergy between the development projects of the centre and the provinces for the early completion of national priority projects.
