The Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the UN declared that “Pakistan attaches the highest importance to global non-proliferation norms and the relevant Security Council resolutions, particularly resolution 1540.”
“Robust command and control”
Highlighting the country’s efforts to meet its international obligations, the Mission stated: “Pakistan has successfully implemented its obligations under the resolution 1540 and has established: i) a robust command and control system; ii) a rigorous legislative, administrative and enforcement mechanism to regulate the transfer of sensitive goods and technologies and to ensure their safety and security at all stages; and iii) a comprehensive export control regime at par with the highest international standards.”
Resolution 1540, adopted in 2004, aims to prevent non-state actors from acquiring nuclear, chemical, and biological weapons and their delivery systems.
