ISLAMABAD: The implementation of Pakistan Railways’ online fuel monitoring system is set to commence, with the system expected to be functional from Wednesday (today), as informed to Caretaker Minister Shahid Ashraf Tarar.
The introduction of this system is poised to bring about improved operational efficiency, real-time fuel tracking, and substantial financial savings. This initiative marks a significant step toward innovation and effectiveness in railway management and performance.
The decision to introduce a fuel track management system was made in December, aiming to monitor and optimize fuel supply while curtailing expenditures. The chairman of Pakistan Railways emphasized the installation of electric meters in residential units at railway colonies and urged the acceleration of transitioning the railway network to solar power.
During the meeting, there was a focus on enhancing healthcare facilities, with plans to open railway hospitals in Quetta on December 25 and Peshawar on December 31 for public access. In an effort to improve passenger amenities, the decision was made to install executive toilets at major railway stations.
Furthermore, the meeting reviewed the progress of acquiring land for the Thar coal project, emphasizing Pakistan Railways’ commitment to sustainable practices. These developments reflect a comprehensive approach to modernizing railway operations, ensuring cost-effectiveness, and enhancing services for both passengers and employees. The online fuel monitoring system is expected to play a pivotal role in achieving these goals, ushering in a new era of technological advancement in Pakistan’s railway sector.
