KARACHI: Pakistan Railways (PR) has restored Awami Express which runs from Peshawar Cantt to Karachi as the first train left the port city on Wednesday after a break of 16 months.
The service was closed due to the 2022 floods and has now been resumed after infrastructure maintenance and improvement. The train will make 60 stops from Karachi to Peshawar including Multan, Lahore, and Rawalpindi.
The floods had caused major disruption of rail service across the country and the Pakistan Railways has gradually restored much of the trains now.
