LAHORE: Passengers traveling on the Tezgam Express will soon enjoy an upgraded dining experience as Pakistan Railways announces the addition of a premium lounge dining car.
This new facility, set to launch on May 20, features a more spacious seating area and an extensive menu offering over 40 dishes, including soup, burgers, pizza, and fried food. With a capacity to accommodate 35 passengers at a time, the dining car aims to elevate the travel experience for Tezgam passengers.
This initiative follows the successful implementation of a Premium Lounge Dining Car on the Bahauddin Zakaria Express. Encouraged by its positive response, Pakistan Railways plans to extend similar dining car facilities to other trains, including the Khyber Mail and Allama Iqbal Express, in the coming weeks.
According to the press release, CEO Railways Aamir Baloch highlighted the significance of these enhancements, noting that railway revenue has surpassed 70 billion, exceeding the target by 7 billion.
Baloch emphasized that the surplus revenue will be reinvested to improve passenger facilities. As part of these efforts, executive washrooms are being constructed at Rawalpindi, Multan, and Lahore stations, scheduled to be available for passenger use starting June 1. Additionally, plans are underway to upgrade smaller platforms across the railway network.
