ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority said on Friday that it has started restoring internet across Pakistan, days after it blocked mobile broadband services after PTI chief Imran Khan’s arrest in the Al-Qadir Trust case on 9 May.
After Imran Khan’s arrest, PTI supporters started violent protests across the country, and authorities closed down the internet to control the spread of chaos, while access to major social media sites, including Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube was also blocked since then.
Interior ministry directives for Internet restoration
PTA started the restoration of the internet after the directives from Interior Ministry. The internet suspension has resulted in an approximate revenue loss of 820 million rupees for telecom operators.
