ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari has extended his heartfelt felicitation to the Sikh community on the celebration of Baisakhi, local media reported on Sunday.
In a statement, President Asif Ali Zardari said that this occasion gave a message of happiness, love, peace and affection. He said that Pakistan felt pride over its diverse cultural heritage, adding, Pakistan would ensure all measures to facilitate the Sikh community in the country. He further said that Pakistan was committed to protect and safeguarding the rights of all minorities and they also acknowledged the contributions made by the minorities in the development and progress of nation.
Earlier, in a statement, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Sikh community. In a message the PM said it as a festival of kindness, jubilations and love. Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of Baisakhi, describing the month of Baisakh as a symbol of spring, love, and the sharing of happiness and joy.
The PM proudly acknowledged Pakistan’s rich tapestry of diverse cultures, saying that the vibrant colors of the Baisakhi festival only serve to further enhance the beauty of diversity and inclusion within the nation.
