LAHORE: Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi took oath as caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, Pakistan on Sunday night. Governor Muhammad Balighur Rehman administered the oath to Mohsin Raza Naqvi in a ceremony held at the Governor’s House.

Earlier, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had appointed him as an interim chief minister of the province. The matter of the appointment of the caretaker chief minister Punjab was referred to the electrical body following a bi-partisan parliamentary committee’ failed to develop a consensus within the required time.

Outgoing Chief Minister Parvez Elahi had sent the names of Naveed Akram Cheema and Sjaardar Ahmad Nawaz Sukhera while Leader of the Opposition in the House Hamza Shehbaz had recommended the names of Ahad Cheema and Mohsin Raza Naqvi for the caretaker Chief Minister.
