ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar reaffirmed his determination on Friday to tackle the country’s pressing issues through collaborative efforts.

He chaired a meeting where he emphasized that challenges such as inflation, hoarding, smuggling, and electricity theft are governance-related problems. Therefore, the federal government, along with all provinces and their leadership, will come together to formulate a comprehensive strategy to collectively combat these issues.

The premier dismissed the notion that the government’s efforts against smuggling, hoarding, electricity theft, and inflation were temporary. He asserted that these initiatives would continue for the long term until these problems are fully resolved.

Over the past 10 days, he received positive updates from all provinces regarding the government’s actions against these issues and commended the civil and military bureaucracy for their successful efforts.

He noted that law enforcement agencies were actively pursuing recoveries, which was a stark contrast to the previous inertia and complacency in this regard. To reverse this trend, the government is adopting a holistic approach to see these initiatives through to their conclusion.

PM Kakar highlighted the importance of civil servants gradually improving their performance, which would naturally reduce the need for law enforcement agencies to intervene. He expressed confidence that law enforcement agencies do not intend to encroach on the responsibilities of other organizations but are focused on maintaining governance functionality.

He stressed the need to correct the overall governance attitude and emphasized that improving civil servants’ performance, along with collective efforts, is the key to enhancing governance and its effectiveness.

Prime Minister Kakar concluded by underlining that as civil servants’ performance improves, their authority, respect, and reputation will also grow.
