ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar has instructed the Caretaker Minister for Religious Affairs and the secretary to oversee and finalize arrangements for the upcoming Hajj season in 2024.
The premier chaired a preparatory meeting convened for Hajj 2024 and attended by the Caretaker Minister for Religious Affairs, Aneeq Ahmed, the secretary, and other authorities concerned, read a press release issued by the PM Office Media Wing on Monday.
Prime Minister Kakar also directed the formation of a committee to assess and improve Hajj arrangements, emphasizing that there should be no compromise when it comes to the comfort and well-being of the pilgrims.
PM Sought Report on Hajj 2023 Complaints
Additionally, he instructed the submission of a comprehensive report addressing any complaints made by pilgrims regarding the Hajj 2023 season.
Furthermore, directives were issued to the relevant ministries, including the Ministry of Information Technology, to collaborate on the development of a mobile application and website. These digital platforms will facilitate the registration of complaints and provide assistance to intending pilgrims for the upcoming season.
PM Kakar also emphasized the need to establish a reforms committee that would investigate complaints concerning private Hajj companies and provide recommendations for improvement. He stressed the importance of vigilance to ensure that pilgrims traveling with these private companies face no difficulties.
In a bid to enhance oversight and ensure the effectiveness of arrangements, the caretaker prime minister urged the minister and the secretary to personally visit Saudi Arabia. Their mission would involve overseeing preparations for the upcoming Hajj 2024 and submitting a comprehensive report on their findings and recommendations.
