ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will visit Tehran tomorrow to attend the inauguration ceremony of President-elect of Iran Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, official media reported on Monday.

The trip highlights the commitment by the two nations to strengthen leadership engagement and bilateral ties.  Pezeshkian is set to be sworn in before parliament on Tuesday, Iranian media reported. His election follows the sudden death of ex-President Ebrahim Raisi, who passed away in a helicopter crash in May.

According to Iranian media, seventy foreign delegates, including presidents and prime ministers of different countries will attend the inauguration of Iranian President-elect Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday.

Earlier, Iran’s supreme leader Ali Khamenei gave his official endorsement of Masoud Pezeshkian as ninth president, following snap elections.
