ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar is set to embark on his three-day official visit to Kenya to attend the Africa Climate Summit scheduled for September 4 to 6 in Nairobi.

The premier will be accompanied by Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani on his maiden visit abroad as prime minister.

The Prime Minister is visiting Nairobi at the invitation of Kenya’s President William Samoei Ruto, said Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch in her weekly press briefing on Friday.

The prime minister would present Pakistan’s viewpoint on the global climate challenges and highlight the country’s efforts to rebuild in a climate-resilient way following the devastation of last year’s floods, she added. The necessity for increased climate cooperation at all levels to effectively combat the shared challenge of climate change would be one of the prime minister’s main messages in Nairobi.

Furthermore, while in Nairobi, the Prime Minister will engage in a series of bilateral meetings with African counterparts, including those from Kenya, as well as other high-level dignitaries, said Mumtaz Zahra Baloch.

The Africa Climate Summit is an initiative spearheaded by Kenya and the African Union. Pakistan’s robust participation underscores its proactive climate diplomacy and aligns with the ‘Look Africa’ approach, which seeks to enhance engagement with African countries.
