Pakistan PM Stresses Prioritize Development of Underdeveloped Areas

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar affirmed the government’s commitment on Monday to prioritize the development of underprivileged areas to bring them on par with the more developed regions of the country.

During a meeting with Najy Benhassaine, the Country Director of the World Bank, Prime Minister Kakar expressed his appreciation for the World Bank’s vital role in the development of less developed regions, particularly the remote areas of Balochistan.

He acknowledged the World Bank’s substantial contributions to the relief and rehabilitation efforts for people affected by the unprecedented floods in 2022. Prime Minister Kakar further pledged full administrative support from the government to expedite the rehabilitation work in the flood-affected regions.

World Bank Country Director Briefs Pakistan PM

The World Bank Country Director briefed the prime minister on ongoing development initiatives aimed at uplifting the underdeveloped areas of Balochistan, flood rehabilitation efforts in Sindh, and the disbursement of funds promised in a meeting in Geneva.

The meeting also had the presence of Interim Finance Minister Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, signifying the importance of collaborative efforts between the government and international organizations for the development and progress of Pakistan.
