ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said on Thursday that Pak-UK relations are deeply rooted in history, shared legacy, and strong people-to-people contacts. The United Kingdom is the largest European partner of Pakistan in trade, investment, and development, and the trajectory of the bilateral relations between the two countries showed great potential for growth that was beneficial for both sides.
The premier made these remarks while receiving the outgoing British High Commissioner Dr Christian Turner in his farewell meeting.
He lauded the services of Dr Turner for the promotion of bilateral ties, particularly in the areas of trade, economic cooperation, and investment.
British High Commissioner played proactive role to boost bilateral ties
The PM also appreciated the outgoing British High Commissioner for his proactive role in channelizing United Kingdom’s support for relief and recovery efforts after the recent floods in Pakistan.
The prime minister also commended his role in bringing the English cricket team to Pakistan after seventeen years to play fabulous cricket and in the revival of commercial flight operations of British Airways in Pakistan.
