ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday met with SCO Secretary-General Zhang Ming, reaffirming Islamabad’s commitment to advancing the organization’s development priorities for the benefit of all member states and the broader region.
According to the state-run news agency APP, the meeting took place on the sidelines of the 23rd Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Council of Heads of Government (CHG) session. The prime minister emphasized Pakistan’s readiness to collaborate with other SCO member states to enhance the organization’s effectiveness and strength.
Welcoming Secretary-General Ming back to Islamabad, the prime minister expressed gratitude for the support provided by the SCO Secretariat in organizing the SCO CHG Meeting, recalling Ming’s visit to Pakistan in July 2022.
He also acknowledged Zhang Ming’s dedication and outstanding service as the outgoing Secretary-General, wishing him success in his future endeavors.
Zhang Ming congratulated the prime minister on the successful organization of the SCO CHG Meeting and its positive outcomes. He commended Pakistan’s constructive contributions to SCO activities across various domains and expressed satisfaction with Pakistan’s leadership as the Chair of the SCO CHG.
