Pakistan PM Orders to Complete PIA Privatization

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Caretaker Prime Minister, Anwaar ul Haq Kakar, on Thursday, directed Interim Minister for Privatization, Fawad Hasan Fawad, to expedite the privatization process of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

The Prime Minister presided over a meeting related to the national airline’s privatization, during which he received a briefing on the progress of the privatization process.

Prime Minister Kakar emphasized that accelerating the privatization process is essential to ensure the provision of reliable services to users and to elevate the national flag carrier’s standards to align with global airline norms. He instructed all relevant stakeholders to promptly address matters pertaining to this privatization.

Additionally, the Prime Minister welcomed the new caretaker Minister for Privatization, Mr. Fawad Hasan Fawad, to his team and assigned him the task of completing the privatization process of PIA.

PIA Cancels Flights

It is worth noting that Pakistan International Airlines is grappling with a severe financial crisis and has canceled several domestic and international flights amid a major financial crisis today. The canceled flights include Karachi-Gwadar, Karachi-Turbat, Karachi-Quetta, Karachi-Multan, and Karachi-Sukkur.
