Pakistan PM Kakar Says India’s Hindutva Fascism Poses Threats to Entire Region

NEW YORK: Pakistan’s interim Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar on Thursday expressed deep concerns about India’s mounting Hindutva fascism, highlighting its possible threats to the entire region.

In his address to the Council on Foreign Relations, a think-tank, Prime Minister Kakar denounced India’s Hindutva ideology, asserting that it posed key threats not only to India’s society but to the whole region.

Kakar observed that minorities were being targeted under the rogue Hindutva fascism in India. He also emphasized the significance of diversity of opinion in civilized societies, quoting the recent killing of a Sikh leader in Canada as an example of the Hindutva effect beyond India’s borders.

Pakistan’s PM assured that his country welcomed Hindu pilgrims and also provided them with complete freedom to visit their holy places in the country.

Discussing regional dynamics, he noted a cooperative environment with the present Afghan government on several matters. The PM voiced his apprehension about the escalating terrorism activities perpetrated by banned outfits like TTP and Daesh, underlining their threat to world peace.

He stressed the need for permanent peace in Afghanistan, admitting that Pakistan had been consistently suffered from terrorism. He also expressed optimism regarding enhancing ties with Afghanistan and quoted the fluid nature of world political history, which hardly remained static.

Regarding the next general elections in Pakistan, Kakar emphasized that the interim government’s primary mission was to supervise the free and fair elections, scheduled for January, with complete participation by all registered political parties in the country.

He also touched the subject of Pak-China relations, emphasizing the strategic ties between Islamabad and Beijing and their alignment on several regional and international issues.

He underscored the need to increase trade between the US and Pakistan, advocating for expanded cooperation in diverse sectors between the two sides. He also mentioned the formation of a special Investment Facilitation Council for foreign investment.

The PM mentioned the presence of Pakistani students in the US universities under scholarship programmes and the considerable Pakistani diaspora contributing in several sectors within the US, numbering about one million individuals.
