Pakistan PM Holds Talks with Jordan, Bahrain Leaders Amid Middle East Crisis

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday held telephonic talks with the Kings of Jordan and Bahrain, focusing on the escalating Middle East tensions and emphasising restraint, dialogue, and regional stability.

The talks underscored Pakistan’s commitment to promoting stability, strengthening diplomatic ties, and coordinating efforts to address shared security and economic challenges.

During a telephonic conversation with King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein of Jordan, the Prime Minister expressed Pakistan’s deep concern over recent developments in the region and reaffirmed the country’s solidarity with Jordan and other brotherly nations during this challenging period.

He stressed the urgent need for restraint, de-escalation, and dialogue to safeguard peace and stability in the region.

PM Sharif also underscored Pakistan’s readiness to support all initiatives aimed at restoring peace and promoting regional stability.

The two leaders exchanged views on the serious developments following recent escalations, including the Israeli attack on Iran and subsequent incidents affecting Jordan and other regional states.

Both leaders agreed to maintain close coordination and continue dialogue on regional security and stability.

Meanwhile, PM Shehbaz spoke over the phone with Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and conveyed Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with the brotherly people of Bahrain during the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.

“While praying for the safety and security of our brothers and sisters in Bahrain, I emphasised restraint, respect for international law, and the urgent need for dialogue and diplomacy to restore peace and stability in the region,” the PM said in a post on X.

Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar spoke with Oman’s Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi.

“They expressed serious concern over the ongoing escalation in the region and underscored the urgent need for restraint, dialogue, and de-escalation to preserve peace and stability,” said a statement issued by the Foreign Office.

Pakistan’s President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday extended condolences to the government and people of Iran over the death of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in large-scale US–Israeli strikes.
