ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Friday congratulated former Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team captain Sana Mir on her induction into the International Cricket Council’s (ICC) Cricket Hall of Fame, praising her exceptional leadership and contribution to the sport.

During a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office, the premier lauded Sana Mir’s achievements, saying, “Under your leadership, the Pakistan Women’s Cricket Team has achieved significant successes and made Pakistan famous all over the world.” He expressed hope that Mir would continue to contribute by training and nurturing new cricketing talent across the country.

Highlighting his government’s commitment to sports development, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the importance of providing equal opportunities and facilities to both men and women athletes. “Promoting talent on merit in every field of sports, including cricket, is among my top priorities. I am striving to ensure Pakistan’s strong representation in the World Cricket Association and ICC,” he stated.

Sana Mir expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for his support and outlined recommendations for further enhancing cricket in Pakistan, particularly women’s cricket. “Hopefully, the government will take steps to develop cricket grounds and foster new talent, especially by creating more opportunities for women in the sport,” she said.

The meeting underscored the shared commitment to advancing cricket in Pakistan and empowering female athletes to reach new heights on the international stage.
