Pakistan: Plastic Material Export Increases 53.79%

ISLAMABAD: The export of plastic materials from Pakistan experienced an increase of 53.79 per cent during the first seven months of the current financial year (2023-24) as compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

According to data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), Pakistan exported plastic materials valued at $215.161 million from July to January (2023-24), marking a notable increase from $139.909 million recorded during the same period in the previous fiscal year (2022-23), indicating a growth rate of 53.79 percent.

In terms of quantity, the export of plastic also saw a substantial surge of 118.18 percent, escalating from 97,905 metric tons to 213,613 metric tons, as per data.

Furthermore, on a year-on-year basis, plastic exports demonstrated a notable increase of 102.83 percent in January 2024 compared to the corresponding month of the prior year. The PBS data indicated that plastic material exports in January 2024 amounted to US $36.283 million, contrasting with $17.888 million in January 2023.

Additionally, on a month-on-month basis, plastic exports exhibited a rise of 7.77 percent in January 2024 compared to December 2023, reaching $36.283 million compared to $33.666 million in the previous month.   —APP
