ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s parliament will express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K) for their right to self-determination today.
The joint sitting of the parliament will be held to express solidarity with the people of Indian Illegally-Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Through a resolution likely to be moved by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the joint session of the parliament will demand that India rescind its unilateral and illegal action of August 5, 2019 and subsequent steps.
The Pakistani lawmakers will also demand the implementation of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions to enable the Kashmiris to determine their future through an impartial plebiscite under the UN auspices.
The parliament will also express serious concerns over the presence of over 900,000 Indian troops, which have turned the IIOJ&K into one of the most militarised regions of the world.
The two houses jointly will also deplore the impunity with which the Indian forces continue their human rights violations in the occupied valley under the draconian laws that also defy the norms of justice.
Parliament also to pass two bills
According to the agenda for Wednesday’s joint session, the House will also pass the “Protection of Parents Bill, 2022” and “The Islamabad Capital Territory Local Government (Amendment) Bill, 2022”.
The agenda also suggests that the parliament will discuss issues of national importance including Jammu and Kashmir issue, economic policy, China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, respect for national institutions, population explosion, climate change impacts and foreign policy.
