Pakistan Outclass UAE by 191 Runs to Reach U-19 Tri-Series Final

DUBAI: In an impressive display with both bat and ball, Pakistan outclassed the UAE by 191 runs to secure their place in the final of the U-19 Tri-Series Tournament at the ICC Cricket Academy Ground in Dubai on Friday.

Pakistan will face Afghanistan in the decider on Tuesday at the same venue.

Chasing a challenging target of 315, the UAE suffered a top-order collapse as they were reduced to just 52 for five in 16 overs.

At this phase, Ayaan Misbah made 17 off 46 balls while Suri scored 32 contributed 21 runs before Misbah was dismissed Umar Zaib in the 26th over of the match.

The UAE were finally dismissed for 123 in the 37th over of the clash. Pakistan Naveed Khan took three wickets while Umar claimed four wickets against the UAE.

Earlier after choosing to bat first, Pakistan posted a solid 314 for five off the stipulated 50 overs, their best score in the series.

Opting to bat first, Pakistan set a good and challenging total of 314 for five in 50 overs, marking their highest score of the series.

Openers Shahzaib Khan made 71 runs while Usman Khan scored 50 gave their side a fine start.

After the openers’ departure, Farhan Yousuf scored 63 off 50 and Haroon Arshad made 54 off 34 contributed 75 runs for the fourth wicket.

Uddish Suri and Noorullah Ayubi claimed two wickets each for the UAE.

Talking to the media, Pakistan U19 head coach Ghulam Ali said that they have gained clarity about selecting the best combination. He lauded the team’s performance and expressed hope to win this mega event.

This was Pakistan’s second successive victory against the UAE in the event, after beating them by 10 wickets in the first encounter.

In this tournament, Pakistan also defeated Afghanistan in their previous match by 13 runs but faced a defeat against the same side in the first clash between the two sides.

The last group match of the series will be played between the UAE and Afghanistan on Sunday.
