MUSCAT, Oman: Pakistan and Oman have discussed ways to enhance cooperation across various sectors for the mutual benefit of the two friendly nations.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi met with Oman’s Royal Minister General Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nu’amani in Muscat on Thursday, Pakistan’s interior ministry said in a statement.
“The two leaders discussed Pakistan-Oman relations and measures to resolve visa issues faced by Pakistani citizens,” the interior ministry said.
Minister Naqvi highlighted that Pakistan and Oman are linked by deep religious, cultural, and historical ties, noting that thousands of Pakistanis are currently employed in Oman and are playing a vital role in the Sultanate’s development.
“He said that facilitating visa procedures would enable more skilled workers from Pakistan to seek employment opportunities in Oman,” the ministry stated.
General Al Nu’amani reaffirmed the brotherly and historic bond between the two nations and expressed Oman’s commitment to further expanding bilateral cooperation.
The two sides also exchanged views on the overall regional situation and stressed the need to strengthen mutual engagement to promote peace, stability, and development in the region.
Pakistan and Oman maintain stable trade relations centered on key sectors such as oil, gas, textiles, food products, and fisheries. Oman serves as a major energy supplier to Pakistan, while Pakistan exports rice, textiles, and various agricultural products to Oman.
Pakistan has been working to address visa-related challenges with several countries in recent months, aiming to facilitate the overseas employment of more Pakistani workers.
Remittances sent by skilled and unskilled laborers abroad play a crucial role in supporting their families and strengthening Pakistan’s economy.
