ISLAMABAD/KARACHI: The construction of the Pakistan Navy’s indigenously-designed gunboat has begun, and the vessel could be equipped with advanced weapons and technology.
According to a spokesperson of the Pakistan Navy, a ceremony was held at Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works.
Vice Admiral Awais Ahmed Bilgrami, Commander of the Pakistan fleet, was the chief guest at the event. The ceremony was attended by the officers of the Pakistan Navy and Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works.
Navy Starts Building Indigenously Designed Gunboat
On this occasion, the chief guest appreciated the joint efforts of the Pakistan Navy, the Ministry of Defence Production and the Karachi Shipyard for developing the first indigenously designed gunboat.
The Managing Director of Karachi Shipyard said that the Karachi Shipyard and Engineering Works was striving to achieve self-reliance in the defence shipbuilding industry.
