RAWALPINDI: In a swift and successful maritime rescue operation, the Pakistan Navy saved an injured Indian crew member aboard a foreign vessel in the open sea and provided him with emergency medical assistance, a military statement said on Wednesday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operation was launched following a medical assistance request from the Liberian oil tanker MT High Leader.

The vessel reported that one of its Indian crew members had sustained serious injuries and required urgent medical attention.

The Pakistan Navy’s Joint Maritime Information and Coordination Centre (JMICC) promptly responded to the distress call, initiating a rapid rescue effort.

The injured crew member was safely evacuated with the support of the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency and transported to a local hospital in Karachi for emergency medical treatment.

The ISPR stated that the timely and efficient rescue operation reflects the Pakistan Navy’s commitment to fulfilling international humanitarian responsibilities, regardless of nationality.

The mission highlights the Navy’s exemplary role in safeguarding lives at sea and upholding maritime safety standards.
