ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Hunain conducted a bilateral passage exercise (PASSEX) with the Royal Navy of Oman’s vessel, RNOV Khasab, in the Gulf of Oman to enhance maritime cooperation between the two navies, the Pakistan Navy said on Tuesday.

Pakistan Navy Ship Hunain visited Oman during deployment on a regional maritime security patrol, according to a news release issued by the Directorate General Public Relations of Pakistan Navy.

Earlier, the Pakistan Navy ship was warmly welcomed by Omani authorities upon its arrival at the port.

“The exercise aimed at improving mutual cooperation between the two navies and enhancing the capability of joint operations,” the news release said.

The Commanding Officer of PNS Hunain met with senior officials of the Royal Navy of Oman and discussed matters of mutual interest. Pakistan Navy ships are regularly deployed on the Regional Maritime Security Patrol.

PNS Hunain’s visit to Oman will further strengthen the existing brotherly relations and defence cooperation between the two countries.

Pakistan Navy ships are routinely deployed on Regional Maritime Security Patrols (RMSP) to uphold international maritime security commitments, safeguard freedom of navigation on the high seas, and protect the global maritime commons.

Pakistan and Oman share longstanding brotherly relations, strengthened by regular naval engagements aimed at enhancing operational readiness and fostering mutual cooperation to ensure safe and secure seas in the region.
