KARACHI: Pakistani authorities launched an anti-narcotics operation in the Arabian Sea on Wednesday and seized a huge quantity of narcotics valued at nearly $ 235 million in the international market.
According to the Media wing of the Pakistan Navy, an intelligence-based counter-narcotics operation jointly conducted by naval officials and Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) in the sea in which approximately 782 kilograms of narcotics were seized.
The statement read that seized drugs were stowed in hidden compartments of a fishing boat that was successfully intercepted by a Pakistan Navy Ship as a result of an intelligence-based operation.
The seized drugs were subsequently handed over to ANF for further legal proceedings.
ANF Seizes $10.411 Million in Narcotics in a Week
Earlier on Tuesday, Pakistan’s Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) claimed to have confiscated a total of 428.943 kilograms of drugs with an estimated international value of $10.411 million. This achievement came as a result of conducting 35 anti-drug operations across the country last week, leading to the apprehension of 36 individuals, including one woman, and the confiscation of seven vehicles.
A spokesperson from the ANF Headquarters reported on Tuesday that the seized drugs consisted of 79 kilograms of opium, 14.346 kilograms of heroin, 325.168 kilograms of hashish, 9.758 kilograms of methamphetamine (commonly known as Ice), 660 grams of weed, and 11 grams of ecstasy tablets.
ANF Punjab recovered 148.694 Kg of drugs in a total of 10 operations. During these operations, around 19 persons including a woman involved in drug smuggling, were arrested.
