ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, said on Saturday that Pakistan has been recognized as the “Tech Destination of the Year” at GITEX Global 2024, reinforcing the country’s position as a global technology hub.
In her congratulatory message, the minister praised the participants, delegates, and companies representing Pakistan at the event held in Dubai. She stated, “Your dedication and hard work have made this event a significant success for Pakistan, highlighting the remarkable potential of our IT industry on the global stage.”
Shaza Fatima emphasized that Pakistan’s growing influence in the tech sector is firmly established with this accolade. “Our impressive participation, with over 200 companies, startups, and industry experts, reflects our unwavering commitment and the immense potential of our IT industry,” she added.
She also congratulated Pakistani companies that signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) and formed key partnerships with international tech leaders. These collaborations are seen as vital steps forward for the IT sector, opening new markets and fostering innovation.
The minister noted that the success of GITEX will not only accelerate the growth of Pakistan’s IT industry but also significantly contribute to the nation’s economy. She reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the IT sector, encouraging innovation, and ensuring that the momentum gained at GITEX leads to ongoing technological and economic advancements.
“I am proud of our collective achievements, and I am confident that the success at GITEX will yield long-term benefits for Pakistan’s technology sector in the future,” she concluded.
