ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Friday extended complete support to every effort towards implementation of the decision of Federal Shariat Court (FSC) on Islamic finance system and Riba.
The minister expressed the statement while presiding over the first meeting of the Steering Committee on the implementation of the Federal Shariat Court (FSC)’s decision on Riba.
Minister offers support for the implementation of the court’s decision
Ishaq Dar lauded the Governor State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) for his sincere efforts in making a model for the implementation of Islamic financing system. He hoped that the guidance of Governor SBP will lead the implementation of the interest-free system to its logical destination.
The minister expressed complete satisfaction on the role of SBP and the National Bank of Pakistan for withdrawing appeals in the Supreme Court against the judgment of Federal Shariat Court and paving the grounds for its implementation.
Ishaq Dar further expressed the commitment of his government to promote Islamic finance system and eliminate the interest system in the country in true spirit and achieve its target of transformation within five years.
The minister stressed on all the stakeholders to work with commitment, understanding and sincerity to address all the hurdles in way of the implementation of the interest-free system and making the system feasible and stronger that all citizens would aspire for it.
The minister urged to include professional experts on Islamic laws in the committees and also sought guidelines of Ulema in the launching of additional Islamic Sukuk bonds.
