The aim of the festival, organized by the National Heritage and Culture Division in collaboration with the Government of Punjab, was to celebrate the nation’s diverse citrus heritage.

During the ceremony, Minister Jamal Shah highlighted that Sargodha, with its rich citrus heritage, serves as an ideal location for such a festival. He emphasized that the event is not only about showcasing the economic and agricultural significance of citrus but also fostering social cohesion and a strong sense of national identity.

The festival is designed to attract visitors from across Pakistan, promoting national unity through shared cultural experiences. Minister Jamal Shah expressed that the event provides a platform for businesses, farmers, and artisans to showcase and sell citrus-related products, contributing to economic growth and national resilience while fostering a socially cohesive society.

Secretary National Heritage and Culture, Humaira Ahmed, shared that the festival includes workshops, seminars, and demonstrations aimed at educating the public on citrus farming techniques, nutritional benefits, and sustainable agricultural practices. This reflects a shared commitment to environmental stewardship and social responsibility.

Commissioner Sargodha Division, Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti, commended the National Heritage and Culture Division for organizing the citrus festival in Sargodha.

He emphasized Sargodha’s status as a major citrus-producing city, particularly known for the high-quality kinnow. However, he highlighted a recent drop in exports and urged the concerned ministry to work on increasing kinnow exports.
