ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) on Saturday forecast rain-wind and thundershowers at isolated places in upper and central Punjab, Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The forecast comes at a time when the Met Office has warned of flash floods in vulnerable districts in the upper parts of the country.
The total monsoon death toll in Pakistan this year stands at around 300, with a majority of the victims being children, according to Arab News.
“Seasonal low lies over north Balochistan. Monsoon currents are penetrating upper and central parts of the country. A westerly wave is also prevailing over upper parts of the country,” the Met Office said.
Thundershowers expected
For Saturday, it said hot and very humid weather is likely to persist in most parts of the country. “However, rain-wind/thundershower is expected at isolated places in Upper/Central Punjab, Kashmir, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan.”

Hot and humid
The National Disaster Management Authority said in an advisory that moisture from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea, coupled with the influence of low-pressure systems developing in the surrounding regions, is expected to bring moderate to heavy rainfall across most parts of the country during 5th to 7th of August, 2025.
During the last 24 hours, rain-wind/thundershower occurred at isolated places in upper and central Punjab, Kashmir, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Zhob.
The weather remained hot and humid in other parts of the country.
