ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast widespread rain-thundershowers from today (Monday) in Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad, upper Punjab, Potohar region, Gilgit-Baltistan, and northeastern and southern Balochistan.

The PMD also warned that there is a risk of flooding in local and seasonal streams of Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Charsadda, Swabi, Mardan, Murree, Galiat, Nowshera, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Dera Ghazi Khan, northeast Punjab, Kashmir and Balochistan.
Heavy rains during July 21-25 are likely to inundate low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Okara, Nowshera and Peshawar, according to the website of PMD.

Unusual exposure
It added that heavy rains during the period may cause landslides in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, affecting traffic movement.
People are advised to avoid unusual exposure to vulnerable areas to avoid any untoward situation and keep updated about latest weather conditions, it further said.
Authorities in the country are bracing for another spell of rain and thunderstorms, which are likely to start in many parts of the country from Monday.
