ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Met Office forecasts “Urban flooding is likely in Rawalpindi and Gujranwala from 22nd to 23rd July”.
It added that “Scattered to widespread rains with isolated heavy falls and very high falls at few places are expected in Islamabad and Rawalpindi divisions” during next 24 hours.
Pakistan Met Office has also issued an update about the flood situation in major rivers in the country. According to the latest update, low to medium level flows are expected in rivers Chenab, and Jhelum from 22nd to 23rd July.
Heavy rainfall
It added that “Low to medium level flows are expected in rivers in rivers Chenab, and Jhelum along with nullahs of rivers Ravi, Chenab and Jhelum from 22nd to 23rd July”.
Pakistan Met Office said that continued heavy rainfall also leaded to considerable rise in reservoir storage.

Earlier, Pakistan National Disaster Management Authority’s National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) has issued a landslide alert for northern regions of the country in view of forecasted monsoon rains and potential slope instability.
As per meteorological projections, isolated rainfall is likely across various valleys of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, including Gilgit, Skardu, Hunza, Astore, Diamer, Ghanche, Muzaffarabad, Neelum Valley, Haveli, Bagh and Poonch, according to NEOC alert.
