Pakistan Marks Defence and Martyrs’ Day with Enthusiasm

ISLAMABAD: Defence and Martyrs Day is being observed today (Wednesday) to pay rich tribute to the martyrs and brave soldieries with a commitment to defend the homeland against all threats.

The Day is being observed to remember the scarifies of martyrs and soldiers who defended their motherland and nation against the aggression of much larger enemy.

On September 6, 1965 the Indian aggressor forces crossed international border in night to strike Pakistan, but the courageous armed forces of the country with the support of entire nation failed the evil designs of the enemy.

Defence and Martyrs’ Day

The day dawned with 31-gun salutes at the federal capital and 21-gun salute at provincial capitals.

Special prayers are being offered after Fajr in mosques for the progress and prosperity of the country and independence of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

Fateha and Quran Khwani are also being offered for the martyrs.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has also released a new song on Defence Day to pay tribute to the martyrs.

The song is written by prominent lyricist Khalilur Rehman Qamar. ‘Qurban Huway’ is sung by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. All the martyrs of armed forces have been paid homage in the video.

Today, the public figures visit the families of the martyrs and Ghazis of 65 war to express solidarity and pay rich tribute to them.

Special programs are also being organized by the civil society to mark the day while special transmissions are being run by the radio and TV channels to inform the new generation about the sacrifices rendered by the brave sons of the soil during 65 war.
