ISLAMABAD: Pakistan observed the 76th anniversary of Indian forces’ landing in Jammu and Kashmir as ‘Black Day, with people from all provinces, students, religious and political parties, and human rights organizations showing strong support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan’s President, Dr Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Anwaarul-Haq Kakar, and the Foreign Minister of Pakistan, in their special messages on this occasion, reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering moral, diplomatic, and political support for the Kashmir Cause.
They emphasized the urgency of reversing India’s illegal and unilateral actions of August 5, 2019, which initiated a process aimed at altering the demographic and political landscape of the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
The Foreign Minister dispatched letters to the President of the UN General Assembly, the President of the UN Security Council, the UN Secretary-General, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and the OIC Secretary-General, apprising them of the latest situation in IIOJK. In these letters, he called for the implementation of the relevant UN Security Council resolutions to enable the people of Jammu and Kashmir to determine their own future. He also urged the international community to press India for the immediate release of political prisoners and dissenters, including Yasin Malik, for whom Indian authorities had sought a death penalty.
The Foreign Secretary briefed diplomats from Islamabad-based missions on the situation in IIOJK, highlighting the legal, security, and human rights dimensions of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.
Pakistan’s Provinces Pay Tribute to Kashmiri Resilience against Indian Atrocities
A ‘Protest Walk’ took place from the Foreign Office to ‘D-Chowk’ on Constitution Avenue in Islamabad. Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Murtaza Solangi led the walk, and it saw participation from officers and staff members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Across the country, various activities, including public rallies, seminars, webinars, panel discussions, and photo exhibitions, were organized to commemorate the ‘Black Day.’ Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora members actively participated, and Pakistan’s diplomatic missions worldwide hosted special events to raise global awareness about India’s decades-long occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.
In the Balochistan province, dozens of events, including protest rallies, seminars, and speech competitions, were organized on Friday to mark Kashmir Black Day. Similarly, rallies, events, and seminars were held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, and Punjab provinces in which people from all walks of life participated in the events to pay tribute to Kashmiris for their resilience against Indian atrocities.
