KARACHI: In a significant blow to regional smuggling networks, a joint operation of Pakistan maritime forces has resulted in the seizure of 1300 kilograms of Hashish and the confiscation of illicit liquor from a stateless vessel during routine patrols in the Arabian Sea.

The operation was conducted by Pakistan Navy (PN), Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA), Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC), and the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF-SINDH) in the Arabian Sea, a Pakistan Navy statement said on Friday.

“On the basis of intelligence, a stateless vessel was intercepted and boarded. A detailed search revealed over 1300 kilograms of Hashish and confiscation of illicit liquor concealed onboard, all destined for unlawful distribution,” it said.

The operation’s success was possible through timely intelligence sharing, real-time coordination, and flawless execution by the participating agencies.

The seized contraband has an estimated collective street value of $ 71.51 million and represents a major disruption to narcotics trafficking and smuggling networks operating in the region.

The confiscated items have been formally handed over to the Anti-Narcotics Force (Sindh) for further investigation and legal action.

This operation underscores the strong cooperation between Pakistan’s maritime and law enforcement agencies, reaffirming their collective commitment to combating smuggling, protecting national maritime boundaries, and enhancing regional security.
