ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Maldives have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen defence and security cooperation, a military statement said on Friday.
The resolve came during a meeting between Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Sahir Shamshad Mirza and President of Maldievs Dr Mohamed Muizzu, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The CJCSC General Sahir Shamshad Mirza is on an official visit to the Maldives.
“Both sides held discussions on evolving global and regional security environment and issues of mutual interest, including bilateral defence and security cooperation,” ISPR said.
According to the statement, they also considered avenues to further enhance military-to-military engagements between the two countries and reaffirmed shared commitment to further strengthening the partnership.
The Maldivian civilian and military leadership lauded the professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces and recognised Pakistan’s sacrifices in combating terrorism.
Earlier, upon his arrival at the Maldives National Defence Force Headquarters, General Mirza was presented with a guard of honour.
